Nutritional Labeling of Salt is Stimulated
Salt has been exempted from obligatory stating of nutritional
content labeling. In spite of this, the productive sector can
voluntarily add this information to the label. The Ministry of
Health and Anvisa acknowledged the importance of nutritional labeling
for the promotion of food practices and healthy lifestyle have
thus supported and stimulated this voluntary adhesion.
Voluntary nutritional labeling of this product represents one
more contribution of the productive sector of salt for the promotion
of health for the population since the salt producing industries
have historically and successfully acted at the National Program
for Prevention and Control of Iodine Deficiency Disorders
