International
Agreements (Multilateral, Regional and Bilateral)
With respect to international agreements, GGREL pursues activities
mainly in the forums of the World Trade Organization (WTO), CODEX
and Mercosul. Moreover, it keeps abreast of agreements in the areas
of controlled medical drugs and environmental health and in a number
of other areas important to the area of sanitary surveillance.
In these forums, GGREL is responsible for coordinating the participation
of ANVISA in activities associated with Mercosul meetings and in
other international forums, taking part in the negotiations and
advising those responsible for technical areas on the harmonization
and internationalization of the technical regulations under negotiation.
In addition, GGREL assists with the monitoring and evaluation of
international agreements and treaties insofar as they impact on
the area of sanitary surveillance.
In the specific case of WTO, in addition to keeping abreast of the
issues concerning sanitary surveillance, it provides notification
of the measures adopted domestically by Brazil which could have
a bearing on the agreements of that Organization.
