Overview
The Brazilian Sanitary Surveillance Agency carries out health monitoring
and enforcement procedures in airports in the following areas:
- Aircraft;
- Inspection of
the airport apron (airport support vehicle)
- Control of passengers/travelers;
- Control of vectors
which can transmit internationally notifiable diseases, (this to be
effected in accordance with International Health Regulations)
- Airport parking
area.
Airports nowadays are places where large numbers of people and freight
from all over the world are concentrated. As a result, transmissible
diseases and other threats to public health and the environment can
be introduced and spread.
Sanitary surveillance
objectives in airports:
- To avoid the
spread of transmissible diseases, and minimize risks to the environment
and to public health;
- To guarantee
satisfactory hygiene, health and sanitary conditions in the aircraft
and the whole airport complex
