Sanitary Inspection of Products
The unit dealing
with Sanitary Inspection of Products gives technical support and
guidance to 27 Coordinating Offices in ports, airports and border
crossing points. There are 113 Sanitary surveillance field offices
throughout Brazil. These carry out approval activities related
to import and export procedures. In addition, they provide guidance
to users and commercial importing and exporting companies, as
well as to government and non-governmental entities.
"The
Import licenses (IL) regarding medicine classified in NCM/SH 3003
and 3004 must contain on fiche/card no 2 - Merchandise - the description,
in the Portuguese language, of the active principle or the active
substance contained by the medicine, in the Portuguese language."
The Unit of
Sanitary Inspection of Products is also responsible for:
- Documentary
analysis and authorization of shipping of goods concerning the
import of donated merchandise, to be done exclusively by the
General Office of Ports, Airports and Borders, at ANVISA in
Brasilia, in accordance with the provisions laid down in Article
6 of Administrative Rule 772/98, which assembles all the procedures
referring to the clearance of merchandise proceeding from abroad
which is subject to sanitary surveillance procedures;
- Analysis
and issuing of the Exemption from Import Tax Order, as set forth
in Articles 149 and 152 of Decree 91.030, of March 5, 1985,
concerning material for hospital medical use;
- Participation
in activities associated with foreign trade under the auspices
of the Integrated Foreign Trade System (SISCOMEX) and other
bodies responsible for issuing approvals.
To keep the
Administrative Tariff Table (to be applied to imported merchandise
subject to special conditions or procedures) up to date in the
Non-Automatic Licensing System of SISCOMEX.
