Partnerships

In order to carry out The Pharmacovigilance activities, partnerships are essential. Thus, a communication network is being created, composed by the Secretariat of Health Policies and the Secretariat of Health Care of the Ministry of Health, the National Health Foundation, the National Commission of Ethics in Research, CEATOX (Collaborating Centre), the Federal Councils of Pharmacy and of Medicine, professional medical associations, the Brazilian Drug Information System, the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization among other participants.

In addition, there are other important partners for the consolidation of the National System of Pharmacovigilance: they are the Local Sanitay Surveillance Offices, which will develop Pharmacovigilance activities complementary to those of Brazilian Sanitary Surveillance Agency ones. Currently, there are two regional Pharmacovigilance centres in São Paulo and Ceará, and it is expected that a total of 27 centres will be created in the future, one in each state capital.
