The main objective of REBLAS - Brazilian Network of Analytical Laboratories
- is to render laboratory services related to prior analyses, pertaining
to fiscal control and guidance related to products under the Sanitary
Surveillance regime.
The network comprises official and private laboratories authorized by
the Brazilian Sanitary Surveillance Agency (ANVISA), by means of qualification
awarded by the General Office of Public Health Laboratories (GGLAS/ANVISA),
and/or through accreditation by INMETRO (National Institute of Metrology,
Normalization and Industrial Quality).
REBLAS provides highly reliable services with respect to analytical
results, and complies with the basic tenets of analytical quality management
and Good Laboratory Practices.
The prior analyses for registration of products, when they are not ruled
by specific legislation, and the guidance analyses may be carried out
by laboratories within REBLAS. The fiscal analyses, when subject to
the legislation in force, must be carried out by INCQS and the Central
Public Health Laboratories (LACEN´s). The latter must operate
under the aegis of Federal, State, Municipal and District governments
or of specialized bodies, when authorized to do so by ANVISA.
The laboratories comprising REBLAS are evaluated by GGLAS, which qualifies
and confirms the technical competence of the entity concerned to carry
out the studies and tests which fall within its remit. The basic aim
of qualification is to ensure good quality of the services provided.
GGLAS/ANVISA will qualify the laboratories according to criteria established
in ABTN ISO/IEC-17025, BPL, BPLC and ISO/Guidelines 43.
These are internationally accepted instruments guaranteeing quality
of services and products. The overall aim is to establish criteria for
qualifying national laboratories (both official and private) as well
as to acknowledge foreign laboratories .
